VINTON, Va. — On June 4, 2011, Cleveland Birl "Buddy" Miller, 78, of 1915 Cambridge Dr., Vinton, Va., formerly
a resident of Bluefield, W.Va. for 50 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior and to join his wife Mary Katherine
Miller, who preceded him in death. Born June 30, 1932 in Simmons, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and
Edith Dunford Miller. Mr. Miller was retired from Platnick Brothers where he had worked as a fabricator. After
retiring, he spent most of his time fixing cars and anything his family and friends brought him. He was a
mechanical genius; if it didn't get fixed, it was because it couldn't be fixed. He was a member of Christ Fellowship
Church. His last wishes are that when you come to say farewell, you dress comfortably. In addition to his wife and
his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Cleveland Birl Miller Jr.; two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Johnny
Miller; four sisters, Virginia Mae, Fern Mitchem, Maxine Watkins, and Elizabeth Sadler; daughter-in-law, Zona
Miller; one grandson, Joshua Miller.
Survivors include three sons, James A. Miller and wife Judy of Augusta, Ga., Samuel E. Miller of Hopewell, Va.,
Johnny Miller and wife Ruth of Vinton, Va. He loved all of his grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, and
three great-great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Pastor Tracy Terry and Gentle Shepherd Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in
Bluewell, W.Va. with Pastor James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton,
W.Va. Friends may call Monday, June 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Grandsons will
serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to send online condolences may do so by visiting www.cravens-shires.com
