The son of John and Harriet (Knapp) Mulford of Albany, New York, he came to Los Angeles in 1890, and primarily built houses, in addition to other buildings, including the old Masonic Temple once located on Hope Street. He also worked on several school and church additions. Husband of Cornelia (Williams) Mulford, they married in 1877 and lived in New Jersey before coming to California.
