James A Crider, husband of Elvira Tennessee Thurman (married in Graves County, Kentucky in 1855). Son of David Crider and Sarah Shultz Walker Crider. Birth date unknown, estimated at about 1834.

The family was living in Calloway County, Kentucky at the time of his death. It has been reported in family stories that he died of pneumonia after becoming sick riding his mule to Tennessee on business on a cold wet winter day. It is said that he returned home, took sick, and passed away in Calloway County. It has also been reported that he is likely buried at Elm Grove Cemetery in Calloway County, although to date no gravesite or gravestone has been located. There is an outstanding photo request for a Find A Grave volunteer to try to locate the gravesite. His widow later remarried and moved away from the area.
