"She was put in her coffin directly after it was brought where she remained till to day the 17th.
About half past three O clock this afternoon after our own family and Uncle John had taken our seats close to the Coffin. Mr. Brook read part of the burial service as he stood in the door way between the room she was in and the next. Then our own family the friends in the same room and those out of three other rooms that were full looked at Mother. The lid was then screwed on the coffin by Mr. Z Machy Mr. J Baker and Mr.
Robins. The coffin was then put in the herse. I and Father, Lizzie and Uncle, Willie and Georgina followed to the coach. We then proceeded to Pine Hill Semertary. All the friends that came to the house did not go. There went 20 veicles viz the herse our family mourning coach containing our family Uncle John and Mrs. Webb 6 buggies the rest waggons. After we arrived near the grave the coffin was carried to it by the same bearers
as it was from the house to it viz Mr. James Baker Mr. John Baker Mr. John Daniels and Mr. Robins. I Father and Georgina walked next to the Coffin. Lizzie Willie and Uncle John next. Mr. Brook read the remainder of the service. The coffin was lowered. We all saw it in the grave. The servace was compleated. We looked in the grave after the Coffin was covered and then returned to the coach and then went home. Mr. and Mrs.
Breathweight and Mr. and Mrs. Freeman went home with us but left soon afterwards. It hailed and rained a little after we got home. Several Semerteries lie in that direction and as we passed by them and after we entered Pine Hill we saw two men digging a grave and several others dug and I thought of the words contained in that beautiful song, The Old Sexton I gather them in, I gather them in."
