Will was the son of Robert Brown II and his wife Elizabeth (Williamson). Will was a Master Carpenter.

As of 1989 there still stood a Presbyterian Church in Butler Co., PA, near Glade Mills, which is brick on the outside and finished beautifully with wood on the inside. The "Wm. Brown Book" states: "The inside (of that church) work was done by that prince of mechanics, Wm. McCamish Brown of Pittsburgh." The church was built in 1842.

Will's widowed wife Mary moved, in 1880, to Mira Valley, south of Ord, NE, where she and her children were active members of Wilson Presbyterian Church, which was a country church south of Ord, in what is called Mira Valley. Most of the charter members were related in one way or another.
