Duane Roy Trumblee, 86, of Canton, MO, formerly of Lamont, IA. died at 5:45 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.

He was born June 3, 1925, in Dundee, IA, a son of Roy Omega and Anna Mathilda Tomashaska Trumblee. He married Norma E. Bronestine on June 9, 1951, in LaGrange, MO. She survives.

Duane served in the US Army both in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW at Lamont, IA.

After the service Duane worked as a carpenter with Chester Drawe in LaGrange for several years, later he owned and operated Trumblee Tiling in Lamont, IA. He also was a welder at Henderson Mfg in Manchester, IA before buying and operating the Lamont Hardware Store. After retirement he and Norma were vendors at many craft shows, his specialty being macramé lawn chairs. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving besides his wife are six daughters and one son: Marsha (Carroll) Hoffman of Canton, Debra (John) O'Brien of Ewing, Sheila Trumblee of LaGrange, Judee (Jeff) Fuller and Linda Trumblee of Kirksville, Becky (Mark) Tucker and Jim (Teri) Trumblee of Strawberry Point, IA. Fourteen grandchildren: Kim (Stacy) Berhorst, Justin (Holly) Hoffman, Sara Hoffman, Jamie (Gary) Oitker, Terry (Angela) O'Brien, Matt (Jennifer) O'Brien, Lori Trumblee, David Trumblee, Chante' Trumblee and fiancé Ryan McKim, Cody Fuller and Cassandra Fuller, Alicia (TJ) Volquardsen, Jared Tucker and fiancé Leanne Meyers and Jordan Tucker. Duane is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Alainah and Leah Hoffman, Cali Berhorst, Kristen and Taryn Oitker, Toby and Tyler O'Brien, McKenna O'Brien, Adustyn Vice Trumblee, DaShawn Trumblee and MiKayla McKim, and Ayden Volquardsen.

Also surviving are brothers LaVon (Donna) Trumblee of Hiawatha, IA, Alfred (Mardell) Trumblee of Cedar Rapids, IA and sister Beverly Kraus of Arlington, IA, sisters-in-law Mary Culton of Manchester, IA, Bonnie Bronestine of Ewing, Doris Lay of Canton, Wanda Pindell of Taylor, and brother and sister-in-law Verne and Betty Bronestine of Quincy, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a sister Leta Trumblee in infancy, his brothers and sisters-in-law Ray and Lavon Trumblee, and John and Hazel Trumblee, brothers-in-law Wayne Bronestine, Donald Lay, and Russell Pindell.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO with Rev. David Howald officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday night in the funeral home. Burial will be in East Midway Cemetery near LaGrange, MO.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Terry and Matt O'Brien, Justin Hoffman, David Trumblee, Cody Fuller, Jared and Jordan Tucker. The family suggests memorials be made to the East Midway Cemetery.
