At the request of the deceased there will be no funeral services and private burial will be in the West Side District Cemetery for longtime West Side resident, Earl M. Smith, 88, of Derby Acres.
Mr. Smith was born in Missouri September 29, 1899 and died Thursday afternoon June 9, 1988 in a Bakersfield hospital.
Mr. Smith had lived on the West Side for over 50 years. He spent over 30 years working in the local oilfields.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his grandson SGT_William_Earl_Stone, who died in Vietnam in 1968. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, two daughters and their husbands, a son and his wife, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Services are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
