DAVID B. WIDENHOFER, 66, entered into his eternal home on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Born March 31, 1945, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Norman and Esther Widen-hofer. He battled cancer for six years and now rests in peace with his Savior. He was the Executive Director of Concordia Lutheran High School from 1992 to 2009, when he retired to continue his battle with cancer. He devoted his life's work to promoting secondary Christian education. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Zeddies); sons, Steven (Melissa) Widenhofer of Germantown, Md., Jeffrey (Jenn) Widenhofer of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jeremy (Kristin) Widenhofer of Reston, Va.; grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Lia, Layla, Madeline and Keegan Widenhofer; brothers, Gerald (Ronelle) Widenhofer of Fort Wayne and Stephen (Debra) Widenhofer of Decatur, Ill.; mother-in-law, Ruth Zeddies of Fort Wayne; brothers and sisters-in-law; uncles, Rev. Carl Barth and Rev. Walter Barth; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Larry Merino and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Ahlersmeyer officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Interment following the service in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested and may be given to Concordia Lutheran High School, Fort Wayne, Holy Cross Lutheran Church or School or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
