Mabel Crook, 97, of Canyon died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Okla., with Stephanie Barnasevitch, granddaughter, and Art Dubus officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Crook was born July 6, 1912, in Electra to William Thomas and Bertha Mae Dudgeon Haile. She graduated from Cameron High School in Lawton. She attended college and worked as a seamstress during World War II.

Mrs. Crook was an avid gardener. She loved cooking for her family. Everything she made was from scratch. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and left many fond memories for her family to cherish.

She married Earl Crook on Aug. 19, 1931.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 14, 1982; and a daughter, Judy L. Vaughan, on June 3, 2007.

Survivors include three granddaughters, Alisa Cupp and husband Allen of Amarillo and Stephanie Barnasevitch and husband John and Jodie Cowart and husband Devin, all of Canyon; six great-grandsons, Brandon Coats and wife Kara and Chance Cupp, all of Amarillo, and Colten Cowart, Kelby Cowart, Hunter Barnasevitch and Cody Cowart, all of Canyon; four great-granddaughters, Ashley Cupp of Amarillo and Heather Harrison, Macayla Barnasevitch and Kailyn Cowart, all of Canyon; two great-great-grandchildren, Aeshlynn Coats and Kaydance Coats, both of Amarillo.

Mabel was a resident of Canyon, Texas at time of her death.
