LeRoy H. Hosto, 82, of Alhambra, Ill., born Sept. 22, 1921, in Alhambra, Ill., died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Hitz Memorial Home, Alhambra, Ill.
Mr. Hosto operated a grain farm until 1980. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, Ill., Salem Men's Fellowship, Madison County Farm Bureau, Alhambra Community Club, Salem Cemetery Board, and the Square Deal Milk Producers Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella, nee Eilert, Hosto, whom he married Oct. 3, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Staunton, Ill., and who died Jan. 6, 1997; his parents, Carl and May, nee Henschen, Hosto; a son, Larry Hosto, who died July 6, 1974; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen, nee Beck, Hosto Loyet, who died Nov. 28, 1999; and two sisters, Velma DeVries and Roberta Korsmeyer.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Donald) Merkle of Alhambra, Ill., and Gail (John) Van Winkle of Belleville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Danna (Christopher) Valsecchi of Hoffmann Estates, Ill., and Dr. Jennifer (Michael) Follwell of Marthasville, Mo., Dione (Ray) Booth of Rochester, Ill., Tyson Abert of Belleville, Ill., Collin Abert of Belleville, Ill., and Jared Abert of Belleville, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Booth and Brianna Follwell; and four sisters-in-law, Hilda Meyer of Pairietown, Ill., Marie Eilert of Staunton, Ill., Marcella Eilert of Mount Olive, Ill., and Alice Eilert of Litchfield, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund and Radio Station KFUO.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, at Dauderman Mortuary, Alhambra, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, Ill., with the Rev. John Mindrup officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alhambra, Ill.
