Delbert "Gene" Stearman, 72, of Dalton, KY, died at 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 10, 2004, at his home.

Born April 4, 1932 in Owensboro, KY he was the son of the late Albert Stearman and Naomi Williams Stearman. He was also preceded in death by one stepson, Edward Rickard, two sisters, Eula Stogner and Christine Spears and two brothers, Elvis Stearman and Jim Stearman.

Mr. Stearman was a retired truck driver.

He loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and step-grandchildren each in his own special way. They were all special to him.

Surviving are his wife, Nell Stearman; one daughter, Dana Garbers of Evansville, IN; two stepdaughters, Tammy Holmes of Dalton and Linda Ours of Evansville; two stepsons, Mike Rickard of Dalton and Fred Rickard of Evansville; two sisters, Helen Spears and Shirley Mullen, both of Evansville; two brothers, Joseph Stearman of Franklin, IN and Wallace Stearman of Mesa, AZ; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Silent Run Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and after 8:00 A.M. Saturday.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
