Audrey Ann Hargens was born March 23, 1929 at Dalton, NE in a sod house. Her parents were Byron Hayes and Caroline Jeannette (Bolke) Hargens. She graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, Nebraska, in 1947 completing Normal Training. Audrey taught a number of years at a country school south of Spencer, as well as several years in Mitchell, Nebraska. Later she began working for the US Post Office first as Assistant Post Master at Spencer, Nebraska, then as Post Master at Lyman, Nebraska. Audrey retired from the Post Office after 25 years. On July 1, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer, Nebraska, Audrey married Louis C. Adams.
Audrey is survived by her sisters Florence Cummingham of Quivira Lake, Kansas and Lois Lentz of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law Laura Hargens of Norfolk, Nebraska and Arlene Hargens of Spencer, Nebraska; and a number of Nieces, Nephews and Friends. Preceding her in death were her parents Byron and Caroline Hargens, Brothers Harold and Allen, Sisters Ethel Battershell, Mary Eissler and Shirley Brown.
