Josephine Velie Krogness of Presbyterian Homes in Spring Park, MN, passed away June 3, 2002 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by husband, Melville A.R. Krogness; son, George Deere Krogness; parents, Charles Deere Velie & Louise Koon Velie; brother, Charles Koon Velie; sister, Grace Velie James. Survived by sister, Kate Velie Gibbs; sons, Charles Velie Krogness (Jean) and Stephen Melville Krogness (Noreen); grandchildren, Josephine Krogness Phelps (Edward), Katharine Krogness Campbell (Wade) and Mary Krogness Revello (Paul), Mark Russell Krogness (Susan), Elizabeth Krogness Melamed (Robert), Stephen Velie Krogness (Pamela), Brian Price (Julie), Julie Price-Thiede (Klaus); great-grandchildren, Charles & Sarah Campbell, Laura & Katharine Revello, Michael Melamed, Annelise & Thomas Phelps.


Josephine was a great-granddaughter of John Deere. She attended the Northrop Collegiate School and Dana Hall, Boston, MA. She lived most of her life in the Wayzata Area and was a longtime member of The Lake Minnetonka Garden Club, The Woodhill Country Club and had a long association with The Greater Minneapolis Area Big Sisters. Memorial Service 2 PM Thursday, June 6 at Wayzata Community Church Wakefield Chapel. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Blake School for the George Deere Krogness Scholarship Fund. David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577
