Hazel Lynette Thiel, daughter of Clarence "Bud" and Hazel (Garland) Frisbie, was born February 4, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois. Her family moved to Emmetsburg where Hazel received her education.

Hazel drove school bus for the Spencer school district and then went to work for Emmetsburg Ready Mix where she drove truck for over twenty years. Hazel also helped construct grain elevators and drove a semi truck, often working twelve to fourteen hour days. She was a First Responder for several years and very instrumental in the Iowa Share Program.

Hazel was a devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of church circle. She helped at BINGO at the V.F.W. for many years.

Hazel enjoyed traveling and often went camping at Gull State Park or out west. She loved going fishing and had a very tender heart when it came to animals, especially dogs. Hazel will be remembered by all of her hugs she shared, always wanting to help someone else feel better or just to make their day brighter. She was a very hard worker, keeping her house very clean and raising strawberries.
