Graveside services for Ernest W. Hunt, 67, were held Friday, May 14, on Hashknife Ranch with Rev. Delmar McBeath officiating. He died Wednesday, May 12, in Wichita Falls.
Born October 26, 1925, in Olney, Hunt attended Texas A & M College before serving the Army in World War II. Pfc. Ernest W. Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hunt, Olney, attended Olney High and Texas A&M. Entered Army, 1943, trained at Camp Blanding, Fla. and Camp Shelby, Miss. Served in France and Germany. Awarded GCM, ETO with 2 Battle Stars, Victory and Combat Inf. Badge. Discharged in 1946.
He was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He operated the family Hunt's Hashknife Ranch until his retirement.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Olney, Southwestern Cattle Raisers' Association, American Quarter Horse Association and National Cattlemen's Association.
Survivors include a daughter, K. Ann Schriver of Dallas; a son, E.W. Hunt, Jr., of Seymour and three grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home of Seymour.
E.W. Hunt of Olney purchased the Hashknife Ranch in Baylor and Throckmorton Counties in 1928 until 1950 Ernest Hunt inherited the ranch from his father in 1950 and ran the Ranch until 1993.
