The daughter of Lester and Bertha (George) Gill. One of nine children. She was a petite woman who worked extremely hard all her life. She retired from the Selinsgrove Center in 1982 because of my father's illness of Lung Cancer. She never acquired a driver's license but generously paid people to take her places. She loved to go out and dance. She had dark hair, a skin that tanned very easily and was a real knock-out when she went out. She never looked her age. She took great pride in the way she dressed and looked. She, however, did not like doctors nor taking drugs. She smoked her whole life and drank only socially. She had borderline diabetes and she was told to have an operation on her arteries in her neck because of cholesterol. She would not do this because of fear.I lost my mother, my friend, my shopping buddy, my listener and a great love of my life suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday morning of April 22, 1987 at 1:30 am. Ironically the watch on her arm stopped at that exact time. Life has been terribly lonely for me ever since as your children and husband are also the loves of your life but your mom is your mom and life will never be the same, at least for me.
