He had a younger brother, Edward Auer Lundberg and a younger sister, Marjorie Christine Lundberg Malkiewicz. Rex was married to Ida R. Sauder Lundberg on December, 11 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. They divorced in 1967 and had two sons, Donald Auer Lundberg and Victor Henning Lundberg.
Rex served in World War II as CPL US Army Air Corps.
Rex died December 21, 1991 at the age of 79 years in Mackay, Idaho. He is buried at Mount McCaleb Cemetery in Mackay, Idaho.
