Curtis Amick was the son of Claude Griffith Amick and Lydia Harmon Amick. He had two brothers, Marvin Griffith Amick and John Harry Amick, and one sister, Juanita Louise Amick Dennis. He was the husband of Iris Jacqueline McKeown Amick and had three children, John Curtis Amick, Cynthia Claudette Amick and Carolyn Sylvia Amick.

He had retired from U.S. Navy service after 21 years with a grade of Store Keeper 1st Class. He loved country music and played the guitar. He was an avid reader.
