Bessie E. Walker, 97, of Concordia passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. She was born on May 27, 1914 at Aurora to William and Mary (Gunter) Ming. She married John Walker on December 9, 1936 at Ames. He preceded her on February 15, 1994.
Bessie is survived by 2 daughters, Alice Walker, Virginia DeGraff and husband Myron, all of Concordia; a son, Don Walker and wife Nila of Hays; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Elma Koerber of Concordia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John; parents; a granddaughter, Michelle Walker; a brother, Clarence; 3 sisters, Anna Walker, Mary Johnson, and Viola Capper; and 2 infant sisters.
Committal services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Aurora. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at The Wesleyan Church, Concordia with Rev. David J. Redmond and Pastor Bob Burns officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM – 9 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 with family greeting friends from 7 – 8 PM at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Memorials may be left to the church with the funeral home in charge.
