Garvin Thomas Fallen, 86, died at about 1 p.m. Friday, June 2, 1995, at Washington Regional Medical Center of congestive heart failure. Born Jan. 28, 1909, the son of Oscar Porter Fallen and Mahala Guinn Fallen at Sulphur City, he was a farmer, teacher, cattleman and a lifelong resident of Washington County. His father moved to Arkansas from Wolfe County, Ky., where other family members still reside. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Oscar Fallen and John Edgar Fallen, and a sister, Lurlie. He graduated with the class of 1929 from Elkins High School and was a student at the University of Arkansas.

Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Anita Snider Fallen; and nine children, Lodene McNabb, Allen Carl Fallen, Doris Ann Woods, Linda Jean Pryor, Ray Harlan Fallen, John Oscar Fallen, Marilyn King, Florence King and Diane Huffman, who will all miss him. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and six great-grandsons.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moore's Chapel with the Rev. Paul Dennis officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moore's Chapel.
