Rev. Stanley B. Barnett (Retired Pastor), 84, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Neshoba County General Hospital. Visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2011 from 4 pm until 8 pm at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia. Services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11 am from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Hill and Rev. Mack Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery in Neshoba County.

He was ordained for the ministry by Spring Creek Baptist Church, Neshoba County in August of 1950. He was a graduate of Clarke College, Newton, Mississippi College, Clinton and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. During his 52 years of service, he pastored eight churches. His first pastorate was East Philadelphia Baptist Church, then at Second Baptist Church in Union City, TN, Sunny Hill Baptist Church, McComb, MS, Oakland Heights Baptist Church , Meridian, MS, Vinesville Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL, Hill View Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL, First Baptist Church, Pearl, MS and North Calvary Baptist Church, Philadelphia, MS. After his retirement he served as interim pastor of several churches in Neshoba County.

He preached over 200 revivals in nine states; Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida, Pennsylvania and California. During his ministry, he was always active in the Mississippi Baptist Association and State Baptist work, serving in many places of leadership and on committees.

Rev. Barnett loved yard and garden work. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Barnett Cleary.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Estelle Vines Barnett; son, Thomas Barnett and wife, Suzanne of Magee; three grandchildren, Ashley Barnett, Janet and Barnett Cleary; son-in-law, Dr. Paul Cleary of Branford, CT; two brothers, Ross Barnett of Peach Tree City, GA and Gerald Branning of Philadelphia; sister, Connie Walters of Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Beacon Street Baptist Church, where he was a member.
