Osborne Patterson, resident of Nebraska for 68 years, died Thursday at his home at 3070 Mason Street. He was 91.
He was born at Clontibrat County in Monaghan, Ireland on December 26, 1848. He came to America with his parents in 1872. The family settled first at Fremont, NE; and later moved to the Cedar River valley in what was later to become Boone County.
In 1879 he married Carrie Casper. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids. Active in political and civic affairs, Mr. Patterson was elected sheriff of Boone County in 1896, serving in that capacity until 1900.
Mr. and Mrs. Patterson observed their golden anniversary on December 26, 1929. They had six children, three of whom survive; daughters, Mrs. Ralph Antisdel and Mrs. J. H. Patterson of Omaha, and son, Frank, of Red Lodge, Montana. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Mr. Patterson was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Knights of Pythias. A service was held at the Crosby-Meyer mortuary following which the body was taken to the Presbyterian Church at Primrose, Nebraska for services and burial was in the Primrose cemetery.
