John E. Clark, 92, of Bluffton, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Christian Care Retirement Community.

Born in Dreyfus, Ky., to Granderson D. and Florence (Chasteen) Clark on Dec. 13, 1915, he married Helen F. Coddington in Churubusco on April 22, 1951; she preceded him in death on Aug. 6, 1994.

A 1935 graduate of Bear Wallow and Bob Town School, Mr. Clark was a lifelong farmer, who also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked at International Harvester (Navistar) for 26 years, retiring in 1976. He served on the Board of Directors for the Wells County Farm Bureau, and as a board member and Sunday school teacher for many years at Lancaster Chapel.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Richard W. (Connie) Clark of Ossian and Marvin D. Clark of Indianapolis; two daughters, Ruth (Dave) Aeschliman of Bluffton and Dr. Carol Clark (Dr. Chris Melin) of Anderson; three sisters, Irene White of Saginaw, Mich., Reba Lutes of Hamilton, Ohio, and Pauline (Lewis) Calico of Berea, Ky.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Clark was also preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Lancaster Chapel in Craigville. Calling hours will be from one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Arrangements are by Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home.

Preferred memorials are to Lancaster Chapel or Christian Care Retirement Community.
