Harry L. Moyer Sr.
Harry L. Moyer Sr., 82, of the Chenoweth Creek community, died at 6:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Mr. Moyer was born April 17, 1919, in Elkins, a son of the late John Clinton and Eva A. Wolfe Moyer.
On Aug. 5, 1944, he married the former Ulta Virginia Chenoweth, who preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Wallace, Chenoweth Creek; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry L. Moyer Jr. and wife, Priscilla, Chenoweth Creek, and Lewis N. Moyer and wife, Sharon, Ronceverte; two sisters, Mable Luther, Farmville, Va., and Annabelle Browning, Olivet, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, seven brothers and a great-grandson.
Mr. Moyer was a carman for Western Maryland Railroad and had been promoted to supervisor before retiring in 1984. He was a farmer and gardener. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Hart's Chapel Church and a Protestant by faith.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Saturday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Lowther of Elkins, and Preacher Ron Nestor of the Believer's Fellowship in Elkins officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoweth Cemetery in Chenoweth Creek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Care Corp., 629 North Ave., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
