"In 1925 S. A. Ingraham purchased the old G. R. Lyon house on the corner of Foundry and Chenango Streets from Standard Oil Company, moved it to 59 South Chenango Street and converted it into a grocery store. His don Raymond succeeded to 1958, then sold to Clarence Confair, of Binghamton. In 1970 the store went out of business, the last independent grocery store in the area,"

"Sylvester A. Ingraham, 80, died Sunday night at Binghamton City Hospital. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. LeVera Padgett; two sons, Leon and Raymond Ingraham, all of Greene; six grandchildren; ten great - grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The body was removed to Harry R. Rogers Funeral Home, Greene, where friends can call."
