Jeremiah Pridemore was born in Lawrence county, Indiana, April 24, 1833. When but a child his parents moved to Clay county, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. In March, 1859, he married Miss Sarah File of Bond county, Illinois. In 1861 he enlisted as a private in the 48th Illinois Infantry. He saw much active service and engaged in the battles of Ft. Donalson, Shiloh. Vicksburg, Chattanooga and Atlanta. After his discharge in September, 1864, he returned to Bond county, Iowa, where he lived till he came to Greeley county in 1877. He still lives on his old homestead.
