Andrew was born to parents John Yocum(1718-1761) and Elizabeth DeHaven/Inhaven(1723-1808).
He was one of nine children: Eleanor(1742-?), Peter(1744–1785), Jonas(1746–1793), Peter(1747–1785,) Rebecca(1754–1843), Jesse(1756–1812), John(1757–1844) and Mary(1760–1844).
