Thea grew up in Gary, Minnesota, in a family of 12 children (two died at age 2). She graduated from Moorhead Teacher's College and taught fourth grade for three years. After marrying Sam Gamble, they moved west to Colorado in 1926 and opened an implement store. They also traveled to California. Thea had many interests: horseback riding, synchronized swimming, painting; she learned several languages, traveled the world, and was librarian in Golden, CO for 30 years. Spent her last years in a nursing home in Morrison, CO. All the other members of her family are buried at Gary, MN. No children except a girl who died in infancy.
