• 26 Mar 1964-The Progress -Funeral services were held Wednesday at Liberty for William J. Bingle, 46, of Smith Point, whose body was recovered from the waters of Trinity Bay near Vingt-Un Island Monday night. A commercial fisherman and oysterman who had lived alone at Smith Point for a number of years, Mr. Bingle was reported missing by friends Monday night, when he failed to return to Smith Point after a trip to the Vingt-Un area to pick up oysters. Searchers included Sheriff Louis Otter and several Smith Point residents and the fisherman's body was recovered after a short search, near the point where the boat was found. Justice of Peace Carl Fitzgerald said that evidence indicated that Bingle died before falling into the water, and he recorded an inquest verdict of death by natural causes. A native of Plain Dealing, LA, Bingle was a veteran of WW II…Graveside services at Plain Dealing, Thursday. Mr. Bingle is survived by his mother, Mrs. B. E. Bingle of Plain Dealing; five brothers, Jack Bingle and Lindel Bingle, both of Conroe, Dave Bingle of Huntsville, Oscar Bingle of Louisville, AR and Roy Bingle of Plain Dealing; five sisters, Mrs. Thelma Henry of Liberty, Mrs. Edna Sweard and Miss Mable Bingle both of Plain Dealing, Mrs. Isabell Needley of Clevaland, Mrs. Lillian Bbarron of Willis
