Andrew J. Elam was born Feb. 5, 1855 on a farm near Greenville and for many years he engaged in farming in that neighborhood. There he was a member of Liberty Baptist church.
Also he lived several years in Missouri then moving to Vandalia. His wife died in 1913 and since that he has not been actively engaged in business affairs. His home has been in Decatur four years.
He leaves the following children: Mrs. Lena Zuck of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mrs. Keturah E. Snow of Pontiac, Mrs. Iva Godwin of VanDyke, Mich., Mrs. Della Lunch of Chenoa, Mrs. N.R. Wright of Decatur; sons, Roland Elam of Summerville, Mo., Cleve and Albert Elam of Decatur; 21 grandchildren and seven greatngrandchildren; also his brothers, John Elam of Bois City, Idaho, Daniel Elam and his sister, Mrs. Sarah Wright, all near Mulberry Grove.
