Death Comes to Nice E. McKee
Nice E. McKee was born in Labette County, Kansas, 7 miles southwest of Edna, March 14, 1870, on the farm homesteaded by his father, George B. McKee in 1869. He was married to Mary Schell on Feb. 17, 1892, in the Methodist parsonage, the present home of Hubert Froman. The presiding minister was Rev. Spear, who will be remembered as the Methodist minister by the order residents of Edna.
Two children survive the union. One daughter, Mrs. Elsie Nace, who lives at present in Tucson, Ariz., and one son, Leo McKee, who lives in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Mr. McKee moved to Edna in February 1897 and has resided in the same home since that time, and most of the time has folowed the carpenter and cabinetmaker trade.
He was preceded in death by Mrs. McKee in Feb. 1950.
Mr. McKee was the last of a family of ten children and is survived by two children, five grandchildren and eleven great grrandchildren. He was one of the remaining pioneers of this area and will be long remembered as one of the older residents.
Funeral services were held at Goodwin Funeral Home in Edna Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. D. M. Landers in cahrge. Burial was in North Edna cemetery beside his wife.
