Paul E. Marshall, 75, of Perkins, Okla. died Thursday, January 10, 2008, in Stillwater, Okla. after a nine-year battle with cancer. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday January 15, 2008, at Eden Chapel Church. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery (located at Fairgrounds Rd. and 92nd St.). A ham and bean dinner was served at 12 p.m. at Lost Creek United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. at Lost Creek United Methodist Church with the Reverend Max Rudd officiating. Strode Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marshall was born on December 8, 1932 in a farmhouse on the family farm three miles north of Perkins, Okla. to Bert Marshall and Verna Mae (Show) Marshall. He attended all 12 years of school at Perkins, Okla., graduating in 1950.

After graduation, he worked at Bryan Motor Co. and Stillwater Supply Co. before being called to the Navy in 1954. After returning from the service, he bought Paul's DX service station in 1957, which he operated for 10 years.

After a failed first marriage in 1962, he married Susie Enola (Prichard) Marshall on August 20, 1965. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in 2007.

He also owned and operated A- 1 Salvage, Paul's Car Wash, and Toot & Hoot curbside grocery before going to work for Western Mechanical Co. in 1973. In 1972 he also took over the family farm raising wheat and cattle. In 1984 he became manager of Western Mechanical because of the death of the owner, Max Koerner. He retired from Western Mechanical in 1998 and continued his cattle operation until 2007.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Wanda Page; and three sons, Lewis Marshall, Mark Marshall, and Marty Marshall.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susie Marshall of Perkins, Okla.; one daughter, Celia (Marshall) Merrell and her husband Ron of Sand Springs, Okla.; one stepdaughter, Cathey Rampy of Perkins, Okla.; one stepson, J.R. Hurst of Perkins, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Natalie and Kelsey Marshall of Stillwater, Okla., Ginger Barnes and her husband Jesse of Tulsa, Okla., Christy Hannaford and her husband Shane of Broken Arrow, Okla., Mindy Wortmann and husband Rollin, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jimmy Wayne Hurst of Oklahoma City, Okla., Austin Rampy of Perkins, Okla., and Chandra Morace of Perkins, Okla.; and seven great grandchildren; Alexis, Elaina, Charles, Jewell, Camron, Clara and Marshall.

Active pallbearers were Rob Hill, Sam Harp, Raymond Nettles, Nate Mauzzerall, Larry Prichard and Rick Westfall.
