Miss Anna Naomi Johnson never married. Her brother's families became her family. She was a self-assured independent woman, being born and growing up in the latter part of the women’s right movement of 1848 to 1920.

When entering the working world, Miss Naomi Johnson played piano accompaniment to silent movies at various theaters and opera houses in town. As time passed Miss Johnson began working in, and eventually took ownership of a music store in downtown Mansfield, Ohio. She played and sold the popular sheet music of the day, along with other related music items. With the advent of recordings and record players, the interest in sheet music decreased and she was forced to sell the business.

In the 1930’s Miss Johnson left retail and began giving piano sessions in private homes in the Mansfield area. Eventually she purchased a Hammon organ and started offering organ lessons to many of her clients. She was well known in town and became a popular organist for various churches in Mansfield. She taught piano to many in her family, instilling the appreciation of music in them all.
