Bernice Thornton, 81, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at the Iuka Hospital. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Services were at 11 a.m. Sat. at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Stanley Magill officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Crawford and Bonnie Moore, both of Iuka; one sister, Evelyn Adams of Iuka: five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Thornton; a son, Lucian Laxson; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Curtis; two brothers, Lynn B. Curtis and Mose "Preacher" Curtis; and a sister, Agnes Roberts.
Pallbearers were Andy Crawford, Andrew Crawford, Bobby Johnosn, Jackie Bridges, Marshall McRight and William Curtis.
