Beloved husband of Betty T. [nee Tucker], married August 24, 1968. Father of Gregory T. and wife Tracy, Patrick J. [PJ] and wife Colleen, Stephen M. and Sonja, Karen E. and husband Michael Moore and Lisa M. and husband Matthew Pacell. Grandfather of Briana, Tyler, Olivia, Isabella Solley and Skylar Elizabeth Moore. Brother of Margaret M. Massella, Peter J. Solley, Patricia A. Cipollone, Maureen T. Bonnell and John P. Solley.
Attended grade school at St. Francis DeSales [was also Baptized, Married and had his Funeral at that Parish]. Attended West Catholic High School where he was on the varsity tennis team. Joe then worked at race tracks aspiring to be a jockey, but leaving high school as 4'-11" and a 100 pounder suddenly grew in height and weight. He then entered the U.S. Navy for the next 4 and 1/2 years where he took up boxing. Returned home and attended St. Joseph's University earning a degree in accounting, while also working as a city fireman.
Worked in the City Controller's Office and then retired from the City as a supervisor for the Department of Human Services. Joey continued to work as an examiner for the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance.
Volunteered for many years as a baseball and basketball coach and/or referee with neighborhood youth organizations. Was a 32nd degree Mason as a member of the Harry Houseman Lodge in NE Philadelphia.
