Funeral services for Mr. George Clinton Weems, 83, of Delhi will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 3, 2011 at Newton Baptist Church in Delhi with Rev. Terry Ganey officiating.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM Friday at Newton Church until time of services.

Burial will be in the Newton Community Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.

Mr. Weems died Wednesday, June 1st at his residence near Delhi. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Military Police with the US Army; was a member of Newton Baptist Church and was a former General Manager of Maxwell Hardware and Lumber Co. of Delhi.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Sallie Ruth Hosea Weems, his parents, Samuel James Weems and Martha Lenora Curry Weems, seven brothers, C. W., Luther, Albert and Lloyd Weems and Grady, Elbert, and Ordrie Shirley and two sisters, Eunice Linder and Eula Baum.

He is survived by two sons Bruce Weems and wife Patrina of Delhi and Glynn Weems and wife Ginger of Eros; one daughter Vicky Weems Burroughs of Longview, TX; six grandchildren, Brian Weems and wife Amy, Chris Weems and wife Somer, Jennifer Burroughs and fiance Jarrod Cross, Melissa Rubin and husband Matt, Lori Jenkins and husband Jake and Sarah Kate Neal and husband Gary; seven great grandchildren, Fisher & Collin Weems, Bennett & Hudson Weems, Austin Thompson, and Remi & Colton Neal and three sisters, Audie Mercer of Mangham, Myrtle McVay of Bastrop and Vaudie Upton of Delhi. He is also survived by a special "Great Niece" Kiristi & Tim Colvin and their family, Christian, Isabel and Jude along with many other nieces & nephews that he loved very much. Pallbearers will be Brian Weems, Chris Weems, Gary Neal, Jarrod Cross, Jake Jenkins and Johnnie Burroughs.
