Albert Floyd Albright was one of ten children born to Albert Stephen Albright and Ida Thompson Albright descendants of settlers who arrived in Rockcastle County in the early 1800's. Albert grew up on the family farm.

He attended Ottawa school where his school days ended abruptly in eighth grade when he made a quick exit through a window to avoid being paddled by his teacher. He continued his education at Brodhead High School where he played basketball and won the Lincoln Essay Medal. President of his class, Albert graduated high school in 1925.

Albert Albright once said that he would have liked to have been a lawyer. Keenly interested in history and government, he would have made a good lawyer. Fortunately for the many students whom he taught during his 43-year career, that was not possible. He was a gifted teacher who started teaching after one college summer school session, establishing a pattern of attending school and teaching school until he earned a degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1956. He began his career teaching in one-room county schools. He later taught at Mr. Vernon High School and Brodhead High School. He also coached basketball at both high schools.

Albert and Fannie Beatrice Brown were married on May 5, 1932. Fannie, one of the ten children of John Mason Brown and Rilla Harness Brown, was born at the family home at Quail.
