Laura married first W.T. Hale on 27 November 1900, her age given as 18, his as 24. "W.T." almost certainly was William Talton Hale, the son of Francis M. Hale & Elizabeth Corbin Hale. His grave marker (84291488) gives his birth and death years as 1876 & 1961. Several years ago, Buel Hale, a nephew of W.T. Hale stated that W.T. had told him he (W.T.) had been married, but that the marriage lasted only a few days and that his wife went back to her parents, and if there were ever any divorce proceedings, he (W.T.) wasn't made aware of them.
Laura married second on 09 May 1909 Charles I. Medaris (83990083); his remains are buried in the Phelps Cemetery along side those of his first wife, Mary Perryman Medaris. (Charles and Mary had no children. Marvin Medaris, shown as Charles' son on Charles' findagrave page, was actually the child of Ellen Hudson and ----- Grider. Charles Medaris was made Marvin's legal guardian -- "adopted" him, in the parlance of the time -- in 1904, when Marvin was 20 years old but still legally a minor. Marvin dropped the Hudson surname and took the name Medaris at some point between the "adoption" and his marriage in late 1906.)

Laura married third William L. Manley on 18 October 1947 in Delaware County, Indiana. The marriage license (dated October 16th) gives her birth date and place as 29 October 1882, Russell County, Ky., parents Frank (8336909) and Lucy (Selby) Pierce.
