John e. "Buster" Bowen, 80, died Wednesday night in the Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

The Bulloch County hative was the founder of Klean Corner Dry Cleaners and Rental Uniform and worked in the business until his retirement. He was a charter member of the Forest Heights Country Club, one of the founders of Cyreess Lake, received the Deen Day Smith award and was on the board of directors at Amelia By the Sea condominum Association. Through his support, a building at W.W. Mann Retreat Center was named for his late wife, Mary Ann Bowen, and he was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Bowen Lyon, Statesboro; one son, Ed Bowen, Statesboro; two sisters, Marie Brannen, Statesboro, and Myrtice Dean, New Orleans, L.A.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be W.T. Clark, Randy Durden, Earl Lee, Holmes Ramsey, Max Manack and Bill Adams.
