Cynthia Caroline Ellis, 94, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2007), at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman. Cynthia was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Fordland, Mo., to Louis and Vica (Stinnett) Burgett.

Cynthia moved with her family to a farm south of Max. She attended school in Max and was a graduate of Benkelman High School.

On May 28, 1932, she married Daniel Wesley Ellis. They farmed north of Benkelman from 1932 to 1982. In 1975, they moved to Benkelman, but continued to farm until retirement.

Cynthia was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church and the Benkelman Friends Church. She taught Sunday school for many years. She was also President of the Rocky Mountain Friends Yearly Meeting -- Women's Missionary Society.

Cynthia was a 4-H Leader for several years, and a member of the Cowbells.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Vica Burgett; her husband, Dan; daughter, Helen; step-father, Albert Wood; great-granddaughter, Adrianne Kier; and sisters, Ethel Draper, Lois Long and Margie Burgett.

Survivors are: children, Jean Kier and husband, Jim, Robert Ellis and wife, Marian, Cynthia Baney and husband, Randy and son-in-law, Hubert Haines, all of Benkelman; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, NE.
