Born Aug. 10, 1929, in Independence, he was the son of Robert E. and Mabel S. Kaiser Baylor. On March 3, 1951, he married Barbara Milligan in Nashua.
Mr. Baylor farmed and worked 36 years for United States Gypsum. He retired in 1998. He graduated from Biggsville, Ill. High School in 1947. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scott Baylor, Kyle Baylor and Jeffrey Baylor, all of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Karen Fritz of Eureka, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John Baylor of Davenport; and one sister, Carolyn Hammond of Florida.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral with military rites for Mr. Baylor will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Herbert Shafer officiating. The body will be cremated following the funeral. Burial will be at a later date in Biggsville Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
