Hilda Worthen, 92, of Bangor, died at her home unexpededly, Dec. 23, 1993. She was born in Corinna, June 7, 1901, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Mary (Maddocks) Worthen. Hilda attended Corinna schools and graduated in 1918. She was a 1924 graduate of Colby College, Waterville, with an A.B. Degree; and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Colby. Hilda did graduate studies at Boston University. In 1948, she studied at the New York School of Interior Decorating and from 1948 until 1967, was an interior decorator in New Jersey. Hilda taught English in the Providence, R.I. school system; substituted in the Boston Schools; and was active in the Republican politics for many years. Surviving are two nephews, Phillip Worthen and his wife, Debra of Corinna, Charles Currier of new Hampshire; three nieces, Muriel Malone and her husband, Edward, of Corinna, Evelyn Carmalt of Pompano Beach, Fla., Thedessa Sheeney and her husband, Sindey of New Hampshire; a niece-in-law, Naomi I. Worthen of Guilford; several grandnieces and grandnephews. Services will be ehld 2 pm.m Monday, Jan 3, 1993 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor of the All Souls Congregational Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna, Maine
