CARD OF THANKS.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to our neighbors and friends for their assistance and sympathy upon the death of our beloved wife and mother. ELLING OLSON, OLE J. ALLEN, ANDREW OLSON, MRS. AXEL RUSKE, HELMAR WODAHL.

Old Resident of Maple Hill Succumbs to Cancer.
Funeral Held Monday Afternoon.
Mrs. Elling Olson died at her home on Maple Hill on Friday morning, March 28th (1919). She had been in failing health for several months and her family knew there was no hope for her recovery. Her death was caused from a cancer of the stomach and she suffered considerably the last weeks.
The funeral took place Monday, services being conducted at the home at 11:00 a.m., and at the Grand Marais Lutheran church at 2:00 p. m. by Rev. H. F. Johnson, interment was made in Poplar Grove cemetery. Mrs. Olson was 84 years of age, being born in Norway on August 10th, 1834. She immigrated to this country in 1887, first residing at Thomson, Minn., where they lived seven years. They came to Maple Hill in 1894 where they took up a homestead and where they have made their home ever since. The Olson family was among the first settlers in this part of the county. She was active and industrious up to the last months of her life in spite of her advanced age. In her death the neighborhood has lost a true worker for the public good, as she was active in church work and all other benevolent and charitable organizations. While she was not able to do a great deal the latter years, yet her support and guidance could yet be felt. She was liberal and hospitable, always ready to help in all good deeds. Besides her husband she leaves two sons and a daughter, Ole J. Allen and Andrew Olson of Grand Marais and Mrs. Axel (Julia) Ruske of Duluth. Mrs. Ruske came down last week during her last illness and was present at the funeral.
