According to " History of Worth County, Georgia, 1854-1934", by Lillian Grubbs, Burke and Co, Macon, GA, c. 1934 and reprinted 1970, p. 342 : " Mrs Claris Gillis Aultman married John Wingate after her husband, Hiram Aultman , died. This John Wingate left home to go to Jacksonville, Fl. on business, and has never been heard of since. The body of a man was found, who had been drowned in a river, and it was supposed to have been John Wingate."
