Dewey McClinton Bass Jr., 73, of Caroline County passed away at North Medical Center -FMC Campus in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., on May 11, 2011.
Dewey was born in Fredericksburg on Jan. 12, 1938. His parents were the late Dewey Bass Sr. and Bernice Dodd. He served in the U.S. Army and had retired from the Virginia state highway department.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Diane Liming Bass of Lauderdale Lakes; his children, Dewey Bass III (and Cindy) of Stafford County, Debra Bass of Ladysmith, Derek Bass (and Melissa) of Stafford and Denise Bowyer (and Eddie) of Caroline; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Round Oak Baptist Church in Woodford at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 2, with Pastor Randall Newsome conducting the service.
