Octogenarian Passes Away

Aaron Deeter, Covington Resident Dies At Local Hospital Last Evening.

Aaron H. Deeter was born in Newton Township, in 1847; he was the son of John Deeter, a Pennsylvanian by birth, who emigrated to Ohio, in 1805, and located on Wolf Creek in Montgomery County; he moved in 1812 to Newton Township, and located on lands in southeast of Sugar Grove Church, here he resided till his death in 1828. The mother of the deceased was Susanah Stover of Pennsylvania who was the mother of five children, A. H. Deeter being the fifth child; she died in 1851.

Mr. Deeter was married in 1838 to Marry A. Hoke, a native of Juniata County, Penn. Mr. Deeter was reared on a farm; he remained at home attending the district school and doing duty on the farm until he attained his majority; at the age of 21 years, he removed onto a farm near the homestead, and at the end of three years he settled on a small farm south east of Covington about three miles, now owned by Warren Hill. He was married in the Spring of 1868 to Angeline Myers, daughter of David Myers; four children were born to this marriage, one of who died in infancy. Mrs. C. A. Fritz, of north of Covington; Mrs. Pearl V. Deeter of North Dayton, Mrs. Ida J. Martin of Sidney and Mrs. Zilda Speagh of near Troy, are daughters of the deceased at the death of the mother the father kept the four girls together being both father and mother to them.

In later years he united in marriage with Mrs. Tobias.

Four days ago he was taken ill and was removed to the Covington hospital for special treatment for congested bronchals, where he passed away at 3:00 P.M. yesterday, and was removed to the Routzahn Bros. preparation room for Burial. Due to the illness of Mrs. Deeter, the body was taken to the home of E. E. Routzahn, next door east to the Deeter home where any one may call until Friday noon when he will be taken to his home and at 1:00 P.M. private services will be held.

He would have been 82 years old had he lived until April 13.

All relatives and close friends are invited. At 2:00 P.M. the regular funeral services will be held for the public at the Church of the Brethren Rev. C. F. McKee in charge. Burial in Highland Cemetery.
