Clarence W. Fike
Clarence W. Fike, 91, of Brandonville, W.Va., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
The son of the late Joshua and Florence Evans Fike, he was born April 4, 1912, at Hazelton, W.Va.
He was a member of the Brandonville United Methodist Church and Gideons International, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, first president and charter member of the Bruceton Community Lions Club, first president of the Bruceton-Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department, sheriff of Preston County from 1969-1972, former owner of Bruceton Clover Farm and Southern States Feed Store, a Nationwide Insurance agent, past mayor of Brandonville, current councilman, and a woodworker.
Clarence is survived by a son and spouse, Ronald C. and Susie Fike, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two daughters and spouses, Patricia and Kenneth Green, of St. Louis, Mo., and Joyce and Don Harman, of Mobile, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ruth Fike, Nov. 20, 1992; two sisters; and two brothers.
Friends could call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Saturday
from 7-9 p.m., and Sunday noon-9 p.m. Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, in the Brandonville United Methodist Church, beginning at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Greg Moran and the Rev. Gary Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville, Md.
Family requested memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International, Route 1, Box 93-EE, Tunnelton, WV 26444.
