John Thomas Neal was the son of John Neal and Martha Graves. The story goes that John Neal was a Cherokee Indian and his wife, was a white woman. When she died, it is said that John Neal the Indian left his children with the Stokes family and went to Oklahoma where other Indians were. John Thomas Neal married Annie Eran Rawson, 16 Jan 1889 in Leake County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of William M Rawson and Mary Ann Faulkner:
