Funeral services for Tish Boyd, 96, a longtime resident of Roosevelt County will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2011, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Floyd Cemetery with Johnny Stroud, Ivan Imel, Greg Gossett, Daren Boyd, Gary Stark, and Leroy Burch serving as pallbearers. All of her family will be honorary pallbearers.
Tishie Mae Boyd was born March 19, 1915, in Vinson, OK, to the home of Lillie Mae and Theodore Boone and died May 29, 2011, in Lubbock, TX. On March 2, 1932 in Reed, OK, she was married to Frank Boyd. They farmed in Oklahoma until 1942 when they moved to the Upton Community west of Floyd. In 1944, they moved to a farm near Floyd. In 1974, they moved to Portales, which remained her home until 2002 when she moved to a rest home in Lubbock. While living in Portales, she continued to maintain a large garden and sold produce. She was a gifted artist. Tish was a very conservative lady, sewing and canning and gardening to stretch her funds. She was a member of the Floyd Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Pat Boyd of Longview, TX; a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Ivan Imel of Shallowater, TX; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, O. A. "Buff" Boone, D. C. Boone, and Cleo "Bo" Hollis; four sisters, Dovie Overby, Dutch Parker, Zela Ford, and Mary Baker; three grandchildren; a son, Billy Ray Boyd who died December 8, 2001, and by her husband, Frank who died January 22, 2003, after almost 71 years of marriage.
