A. MOTTERSHEAD DIES SUDDENLY
Succumbs to Heart Disease While Working in Garden
Alexander Mottershead, 70, died suddenly about 7 o'clock Thursday evening from heart disease while working in his garden on Twenty-sixth street southwest. He resided at 545 Seventh street southeast.
Mr. Mottershead was born in England, July 12, 1867. He had been a resident of Mason City for the past 54 years, during which time he had been an engineer on the Milwaukee road. He was pensioned last July when retired.
Surviving Mr. Mottershead are his wife, Emma G., four sisters, Mrs. George Buck, Miss Amelia Mottershead, and Mrs. Elma[sic] West, all of Mason City, and Mrs. Bertha Bartell, Peoria, Ill., and three nieces and nine nephews.
Mr. Mottershead was a member of the First Baptist church, the I.O.O.F. lodge No. 224 and all branches of the order, the Masons, and the Ben Hur lodge.
Funeral services will be held at the McAuley and Son funeral home at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, with the Rev. J. Lee Lewis, pastor of the First Baptist church, in charge. The body will lie in state at the McAuley and Son funeral home until the time of services. Burial will be at Elmwood cemetery.

Locomotive Engineers, Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges Take Part
Funeral services for Alexander Mottershead, 70, were held Monday afternoon at the McAuley and Son funeral home with the Rev. J. Lee Lewis, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Odd Fellows lodge No. 224 had a short service immediately after the regular service at the funeral home.
Benevolence lodge A.F. and A.M., was in charge of interment services in Elmwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Harvey McClintock, Walter Gaffney, Mike J. Kelley and Mike E. Kelly.
Music at the service was furnished by Edwin Helbling who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Miss Margery Pickett.
Mr. Mottershead was a charter member of the local chapter of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and ladies of the G.I.A., together with members of Rebekah lodge acted as hostesses at the funeral and reception preceding. Mrs. J.C. Robinson and Mrs. Oscar Johnson were in charge of flowers.
Out of town attendants at the funeral included a sister, Mrs. Bertha Bartell, Peoria, Ill.; two nephews, John and Philip West, and their families of Mitchell, S. Dak.; Mrs. Berth[sic] Chapman, Yakima, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. W.I. Getsch, Mrs. Charles Johnson and Mrs. Louise Smith, all of Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woehrle, St. James, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Woehrle and Charles Woehrle, Braham, Minn., and Ed Woehrle, Minneapolis.
